The fixtures for the “Allsvenskan syd höst” have been announced. Spartacus will compete against Lugi and Malmo in matches played over August and September.
Spartacus’ first match is at home to Lugi on the 9th of August. Following Lugi’s impressive performance against Vänersborg, they will be eager to win this game, and it should make for a very entertaining fixture.
The Series ends on the 20th of September with a home match against Malmo. All details can be found at http://www.rugby.se/Table.asp?TournamentId=54449
Good luck to Spartacus in the games Spartacus miss out on promotionPosted by cormac

7Jul 08 A poor result in Trelleborg (0 - 59) means that Spartacus fail to gain promotion to the Elitserien. Vännersborgs 15 - 8 win over Lugi was enough for them to take the 3rd spot in the Allsvenskan Syd.
While Saturday’s performance was not good, it was encouraging to see some of the players making tackles to the end, and fighting on despite the score-line.
However, to be in a situation where we missed out on qualification to the Elitserien on the final day is a vast improvement on previous seasons. Spartacus failed to win a single match in this league last season, but won four games this year. They would have won five if Malmo had stayed in the league, and the team deeply regret close defeats away to Vänersborg and at home to Pingvin.
It is obvious that the team is improving with each season, and one can only hope that Spartacus is able to take the “next step” next season. Of course, this requires us to qualify for the Allsvenskan again, so the team will be taking the Autumn games very seriously
This Saturday (July 5th), Spartacus travel to Trelleborg to play Pingvin in the Herrallsvenskan syd. If Spartacus win this match, they will qualify for the Elitserien for the first time in the clubs history.
If other results go our way, a win may not be needed. However Spartacus know that they have their destiny in their own hands.

29Jun 08 Spartacus made it two wins in a row in the Allsvenskan with a 31 - 6 home victory over Vänersborg RK. Before the game, Spartacus had set out the goal to beat Vänersborg by at least 7 points. Following the 6 point away defeat, this would ensure that if the two teams were level on points, Spartacus would be placed ahead of Vänersborg in the table. In the end the home side won by a margin of 25 points, and some commented afterwards that the score could have been higher had it not been for some handling errors. |
