Background Spartacus Rugby Union Football Club was founded in 1968. At the
driving seat were Göran Olsson, John Phelan and Willard Sartre. Back in those
days, Spartacus only had a senior men’s team. The situation is the same
today, but of recent years we have had successful ladies and youth teams
also. |

Today we have one senior team which is going through a generation
change. The team mostly consists of players who have come up through the
Spartacus “youth academy” but there is currently a strong foreign contingency
within the club, with players from such major rugby nations as |

Youth teams Unfortunately we do not have a full youth team at the moment, but we
have a number of junior players, ranging between the ages of 11 and 17. The
youth are the future of any club, so should any parents wish to let their
kids try out the glorious sport of rugby, please feel free to contact us. We
put a lot of effort into to our youth organisation and we are proud to host
the Viking Cup |

Club facilities We are situated at Mellbyfältet in Partille,
which is next to Gothenburg, the capital of Sweden’s beautiful west coast,
and also Sweden’s second largest city. Our clubhouse is only 15 minutes by
bus and 10 minutes by car from the centre of the city. We have more than
ample facilities in the clubhouse itself, with 4 changing rooms with showers,
a sauna, fully equipped kitchen, conference room with adjoining office and a
very roomy function room with a well stocked bar, selling a substantial range
of snacks and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Oh, and we also have a
dart board! One of the pitches at the club is just used for rugby and the
other is shared with local football clubs. The clubhouse is opened at least
one hour before and after training and matches, and also at weekends during
the off-season. We have one full-time employee, our very own "handy
man", Titus. He is a former Romanian international player and school
rugby coach. We have a great family spirit within Spartacus RUFC, and many
friends and family of members join us for both home and away matches, as well
as social events. Should you wish to visit the club, no invitation is
required, just pop along to our training sessions or match days during the
season. You will find training times under ”Träningstider"(training
schedules) or ”Nyheter’’ News (games and other
activities). If you are interested to join any of our teams or just want some
more information about Spartacus, please feel free to contact us. Welcome to
